How time flies. It hardly seems any time at all since CAThompson started "Secret Shoggoth" here on Olde Yoggie, but here we are with Secret Shoggoth IV!

Secret Shoggoth is YSDC's festive season mystery gift exchange and if previous years' Secret Shoggoth events are anything to go by, it should prove both rewarding and very entertaining. For further details, see the Secret Shoggoth IV thread in the forums.

There's a bunch of people signed up already (me included) and unconfirmed rumours are that the good old H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society may also be participating again. If you haven't done it before, or want to do it again, here's your chance. It's a great way to give and receive in the most tentacular fashion - and most of all, it's a lot of fun!

A Peculiar Pentad from Super Genius Games

Super Genius Games have released A Peculiar Pentad, a supplement for Call of Cthulhu that offers "five shops or locations that every investigator may want, or need" from the rare book shop to the strangely efficient repair shop, a private social club and more.

A Peculiar Pentad features five contributors including Jeff Grubb, Gwendolyn F.M. Kestrel, Jeff Quick, John D. Rateliff, and Thomas M. Reid (with art by Aaron Acevedo) and looks to be something a little different. Once again, the initial release is in PDF format (sample available), with print to follow.

Yog Radio #39 - Halloween: Glorious Dawn

The Halloween 2009 edition of our audio show, Yog Radio #39 is now available. Featuring as usual, an eclectic mix of mythos materials and more - including part of a "Ghost Walk" the Yoggie crew went on recently.

As with our previous show, there will be singing - but at least this time, it's not us - it's Stephen Hawking�

A Taste of 'Tatters' (Audio Game)

With the Bradford Players concluding their idiosyncratic journey through Walker in the Wastes there was only the briefest of respites before plunging head (or some other body part) first into Tim Wiseman's Tatters of the King.

The Tatters of the King Audio Game sees Neil take up the Keeper's chair and introduces a new player to the group (Sophie). Starting in London in 1928, strange happenings are afoot and the party receive a letter requesting the help of an eminent Alienist�

Also featuring the return of "The Silver Fox" (Betty Sunderland, from HotOE)! Yoggie Patrons can access more episodes now. The rest of the public release will continue in the New Year.

Secrets of New Orleans

Reaching shops right around now is Secrets of New Orleans a reprint of Chaosium's 1997 New Orleans Guidebook supplement for Call of Cthulhu set in "The Big Easy" of the 1920s.

Secrets of New Orleans contains the same material as the original 1997 release but with an updated layout. Written by Fred Van Lente and illustrated by Earl Geier and M. Wayne Miller (with cover by Scott Baxa).

The Lairs of Cthulhu - Treadwell's Lecture by James Holloway

Continuing the tradition of Justin Woodman and Dan Harms, James Holloway gave a talk at Treadwell's bookshop in London on the 15th October entitled: "The Lairs of Cthulhu". Once again, courtesy of GBSteve we have a recording of the talk to share on Yog-Sothoth.

In "The Lairs of Cthulhu" James explores Lovecraft's relationship to archaeology, its use in his fiction, the adoption of this imagery by the Lovecraftian fan community, and the ways in which Lovecraft's work anticipates modern debates in the field.

'Queensguard': Steampunk Cthulhu Monograph from Chaosium

Chaosium have released Queensguard, a steampunk Call of Cthulhu MULA monograph by Jeffrey Rissman.

Queensguard bills itself as a short CoC campaign set in an alternate version of America in which steam technology and magic are woven into the fabric of society. Welcome to the Kingdom of America�

Definitely sounds like something a little different for Call of Cthulhu, which is an advantage that Chaosium's MULA monograph line can explore.

Reality Blurs Releases 'Realms of Cthulhu' (SW/CoC)

First mentioned back in July 2008, Reality Blurs has now published Realms of Cthulhu by Sean Preston, a Savage Worlds adaptation of Call of Cthulhu.

Savage Worlds has a reputation as a fast free-flowing system that may be particularly suited to Pulp-style play. For those not familiar with this system, the Explorer's Edition of the rules set (paperback, full colour) is available for only $9.95 (US).

Realms of Cthulhu is a full colour hardback volume and is a supplement for use in conjunction with the Savage Worlds core rule book.

Walker in the Wastes - Finale: 'Airships at Last!'

After almost a year since initial release, the Bradford Players conclude their own, quite idiosyncratic run through Pagan Publishing's Walker in the Wastes campaign for Call of Cthulhu.

To round off the Yoggie's globe trotting trip through the 1930s we're releasing the last two episodes (#22 & #23) together, delivering a final total of some 60 hours of online audio. Again a big thank you to everyone who's followed the ups, downs, deviations and devilish twists of this most particular set of Investigators (also to Pagan Publishing for their support).

YSDC Patrons can also download supplemental Walker in the Wastes content including additional audio, outtakes, photos and diaries - as well as the beginnings of the next audio game campaign, Tatters of the King�

'Our Ladies of Sorrow' from Miskatonic River Press

Overcoming the sad loss earlier this year of Keith Herber, Miskatonic River Press have just released Our Ladies of Sorrow by Kevin Ross (with artwork by Jason C. Eckhardt). Our Ladies of Sorrow is a modern day Call of Cthulhu campaign where "investigators encounter The Sorrows -- ancient goddesses of grief, madness, and death who, in their multitude of forms, have preyed on Man since he first began to dream�".
