I've just read this one, and I think with a little bit of work, some more mythos references and a couple more scenarios this could make an excellent Secrets of Tibet (1920s). _________________ David Conyers

Apparently a monograph has to sell close to the 500 mark before it will be considered as a viable full game book project.
Any ideas on how to promote this? I still have not seen any reviews.
If any reviewers are interested I would be willing to provide a PDF version of the product, or my previous one Undying Leaders.
Perhaps even the forthcoming Mysteries of Sudan for Cthulhu by Gaslight. _________________ Jason Williams

I've been wandering the emonograph a while now, very nice.
Also, the Tibetan Mastiffs, they are indeed mighty dogs. One of my friend's families apparently breeds them. She says that they can be raised to be good guards or fighters and very loyal. Also that they make bad tracking dogs because if they think their owner is angry at what they're tracking they'll attack it.
Here are some of the fierce dogs:

Cute little guys! You pretty much confirm what I read about them.
They are a breed of dog that you do not want mad at you!
(except if they are puppies! Angry puppies are more cute than scary!)
Edit: I am also glad to hear that you are enjoying the monograph! _________________ Jason Williams

Actually, the last link should also be labelled NSFW. Not for the sky burial, but for one of the adverts at the top of the page contained full male/male insertion. |

Sorry about that! That ad did not appear when I viewed the page.
Must be in the banner rotation.
I will delete that post if that is the case. _________________ Jason Williams

Here we go, somebody with the user name of cat8me put the pictures into a slide show and placed it on Youtube without banner ads with naughty parts.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxyUqI0cS8s
As before WARNING - Graphic pictures of vultures chowing down on a human corpse.
Do not watch if you have a weak stomach and don't say I didn't warn you!
EDIT: The video has been removed from Youtube as a terms of use violation.
Somebody must have objected to seeing a body chopped up and fed to the vultures. _________________ Jason Williams

I have been reading a book that I missed during my research for the monograph.
It is titled Magic and Mystery in Tibet by Alexandra David-Neel.
Great information about Tibetan beliefs in what practitioners of the various schools of study are capable of.
http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Mystery-Madame-Alexandra-David-Neel/dp/0486226824/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1257598709&sr=1-2
I highly recommend it to anybody interested in adding more detail to a Tibetan campaign or scenario. The book was written by an individual who travelled through and lived in Tibet in the 1920's and had the opportunity to interview many Lamas.
She also spoke at length with the 13th Dalai Lama Thubten Gyatso when he was in exile in Sikkim from 1910-1913 to escape a Chinese invasion. _________________ Jason Williams

Ah, that old chestnut. Its a classic, though a little dated since the time of its writing.
A good "companion" volume would be Foundations of Tibetan Mysticism by Angarika Govinda, although it might be deemed too...technical?
Another good one is the ever notorious
Oracles and Demons of Tibet written by Rene Nebesky-Wojkowitz who passed away right after the completion of the book.
And for some visual stimuli, there's a movie called Milarepa: http://www.milarepamovie.com/, by Neten Chokling Rinpoche. Its the early life of a Tibetan Buddhist saint, back when he was practicing ritual sorcery to kill his relatives for stealing his inheritance and dispossessing his mother (umm, long story attached to that one) and how he began to have 2nd thoughts about his career choice as "evil sorcerer" . |
