The first entry - some info about me
Posted on: 10-26-2009 @ 09:27 pm

I thought that creating a Journal here on YSDC could be quite fun and certainly different from just adding things on the Forum. I will try to keep this entry short.

First a few words about me and my background in regards to RPG. My name is Rickard and I am a Swedish gamer, living in the very southern part of Sweden (Malmö, to be precise!). I have been playing tabletop RPG since 1984, if I recall correctly, with virtually no breaks or so. Since 1990 I have been GM'ing most of the time (mostly CoC, which has been the game of choice since the end of the 80's).

Our group plays at a friend’s house in Lund, and has been doing so for the last ten years or so. Most of the players have been in the group since the early 90's.

Our group currently has three players and me as Keeper. We had a fourth player, but he currently has taken a time off, partly due to family business (recently became a father) and partly as he is working on his house on his spare time.

As I wrote above, we have played CoC consistently for 15-20 years, with only some other games slipping in between. It always goes back to CoC, as that is by far my absolute favorite game.

Just before our current CoC-campaign (which is HotOE, more about that in later posts) we have just finished the longest campaign ever written for a Swedish RPG (“Undergångens Arvtagare” for a new version of a classic Swedish post-apocalyptic RPG from the early 80’s). We finished the huge campaign after some 120 (!) sessions, each about four hours long. An incredible thing, I think. But now the focus is CoC, again, and I have started the preparations for our upcoming campaign, Tatters of the King. Most of my posts will be about this, I suppose.

I said that I would try to keep the post short. Hmm, I failed. That’s it for the first post – just a few random thoughts. It might be more structured next time, but I can’t promise anything.

Thanks for reading!
