MPAA Ratings

Tentacle Ratings

A rough measure of how "Lovecraftian" the work is:

  • S____ (One Tentacle: Debateably Lovecraftian; has almost no direct connection to Lovecraft's work)

Basically a gothic ghost story set on a submarine. There might be some loose comparisons to make with The Temple (fiction) by H.P. Lovecraft, though these are clearly different stories.

Note: This rating is not intended as a measure of quality, merely of how closely related to Lovecraftian "Weird" fiction the work is.

A WWII U.S. submarine had a perfect record until the mysterious death of its captain, and the next-in-command is determined to steer his disheartened crew back to safety, but after three battle survivors board the sub, bizarre and frightening things begin to happen and crew members begin to disappear, and to survive, the remaining crew and passengers must piece together the puzzles of the submarine's past - particularly the secret that the captain was killed to prevent anyone else from discovering that the British ship was sunk by friendly fire because the submarine's crew misidentified the target.
