A category for pages relating to a fan-made Call of Cthulhu setting involving a dying Mars dotted with ancient ruins and peopled with surviving pockets of nearly-extinct alien races struggling over the last few drops of water, gasps of air, and living plants left on the alien desert world; the setting is largely inspired by authors like H.G. Wells, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Ray Bradbury, who in turn were inspired by the imagination of astronomer Percival Lowell, who imagined such a world based on fellow astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli's erroneous observation of what appeared to be straight lines carved through the Martian deserts (an effect that was later revealed to be an optical illusion).
