Sarojini Naidu, or 'The Nightingale of India' a female Indian independence activist and poet, is arrested during the Dharasana Satyagraha - a protest against the British salt tax.
In South Africa, The Women's Enfranchisement Act was passed in Parliament, which granted white women aged 21 years and older the right to vote and to run for office.
