Amy Johnson lands in Darwin, Australia becoming the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia (she left on May 5 for the 11,000 mile flight).

The 1930 Far Eastern Championship Games was the ninth edition of the regional multi-sport event, contested between China, Japan and the Philippines, and was held from 24–27 May 1930 in Tokyo. India made its first and only appearance in the tournament's history, becoming the first participant outside of the traditional three nations.
