Ratings

MPAA Ratings

  • Rated: (not rated) (equivalent of a TV-PG for mild Violence)

The original stories were written in the Victorian era and the adaptations tend to be fairly faithful to the source material, so little more than mild off-screen violence would be expected.

Tentacle Ratings

A rough measure of how "Lovecraftian" the work is:

  • SS___ (Two Tentacles: Barely Lovecraftian; could be a very loose adaptation)

Based on one of William Hope Hodgson's "Carnacki the Ghost Finder" stories, an influence on the work of H.P. Lovecraft in Hodgson's combination of scientific problem-solving and the latest technology of his era in investigating supernatural incursions into his fictional world (compare to Lovecraft's "The Shunned House (fiction)", for example).

Note: This rating is not intended as a measure of quality, merely of how closely related to Lovecraftian "Weird" fiction the work is.
