Lovecraft himself seems to have had a phobia or "allergy" to being cold and wrote at least one story set in a very cold location (At the Mountains of Madness (fiction)), though it's likely that many of the films in this category are instead associated with Lovecraft due to following in the footsteps of The Thing (1982 franchise)....
